A great list of things to do in St Kilda delivered to you every Sunday evening

Local pharmacies now dispensing Moderna vax
Martin Foley’s U3APP seminar
This Week in St Kilda #286

Is Port Phillip lax on vax?

SUNDAY 3 OCTOBER
Today’s COVID vaccination and case numbers show that Port Phillip has fallen behind in vaccination rates and risen in cases compared to adjoining local government areas (except Melbourne LGA).

TWiSK asked Council what more could be done and Mayor Crawford replied that Council actively supports the Victorian Government by sharing their COVID-19 communications when requested.
“We will also shortly be creating our own social media campaign to encourage vaccination,” she said.
TWiSK wonders why the marques at the former testing site at the Palais are still in place and unused?
Meanwhile and thankfully, Moderna vaccinations are now available from a number of local pharmacies.
Find a local vaccine pharmacy
There are now pharmacies in Acland Street and Carlisle Street dispensing Moderna vaccinations.

Brookes Pontoon – an idea @ St Kilda Beach
Suggested by TWiSK reader and local artist Richard Manning
Richard submitted this after seeing people having fun climbing on the buoys surrounding the Shakespeare Grove Main Drain project …
“Brookes Jetty has become Brookes Building Site and soon the all new Circle of Reflection will give us something else to think about.
Our long thin streak of glorious imperfection is gone but maybe there is a way to have The Circle and the Brookes magic too.
Currently the site is circled by a ring of four buoys that became a climbing and jumping base for a cluster of young school holiday crew on a recent warm afternoon.
Reminiscent of Brookes Jetty fun times these buoys made me think that a purpose built pontoon could be anchored offshore.
A pontoon replicating the end of Brookes Jetty and at about the same place.

A Brookes Pontoon to swim to and climb on.
A place to frolic a place to be and a place to remember and experience how it was out there in the bay at the end of Brookes Jetty.”
Your ideas are welcome too

Anybody interested in this activation idea
for Acland Plaza over summer?
Working title: “St Kilda’s Got Talent”

Here’s TWiSK’s very embryonic idea for Acland Plaza
Midweek twilight sessions Monday – Thursday 7.30 pm – 8.30 pm
Its part busking, part talent quest, part celebration of diversity
Monday – Wednesday: three acts perform each night for the right to comeback on Thursday for a final heat.
The weeks are curated to provide a variety of ages, stages and styles.
It might be a musical style, dance, comedy, spoken word or novelty.
Possibly with specialist curators and hosts, eg dance, poetry, classical, comedy and so on.
After a number of weeks there is a final week with the weekly winners competing for the overall winner.
Why Acland, why now?
#1 Acland Plaza needs some love
#2 Locals would welcome a reason to stop by to soak the vibe
#3 Just for fun
Outdoor activation in an existing alcohol free location, no entry fee for audiences or participants (although acts are selected in advance).
Ideal for accidental audiences and also attracted audiences by promoting themes, eg dance, classical , story telling , multicultural and so on – with Thursdays for weekly winners.
