Pao de Queijo – Traditional Brazilian Cheese Bread @ Space2b Kitchen2Kitchen
This week Space2b are sharing a special recipe by mother and son team, Tatiana and Zak.
Their recipe is an Australian version of a very popular Brazilian recipe.
Tatiana says it’s very important to her because it is a very communal, social meal. It holds a special place in her memories of eating with family when young, and now again with her friends and children as she passes this version of the recipe down to them.

$300K cash splash to add colour and interest

Applications close 18 October
Applications have opened for six $50,000 prizes to design and deliver amazing activations across Port Phillip.
The $300,000 prize pool is open to designers, artists, architects, sculptors and other creatives to deliver, install and maintain projects that add colour and interest to the streetscape or place for between six weeks to nine months.
While Council is open to considering all public spaces as suggested activation sites, preference will be given to a range of nominated sites including Fitzroy Street and Blessington Street in St Kilda – note the obvious omission of Acland Street*.
After initial submissions close on 18 October, up to 12 applicants will be chosen to progress to Stage 2, where they must provide detailed designs.
After a further assessment, six winners will be announced in November.
Applicants do not need to have a Port Phillip connection
For more information, visit Port Phillip Reimagine
*Curiously the council promo image above features an art installation from Acland Plaza – a ‘non-preferred’ location.
A snub for Acland or blessing for Blessington?
TWiSK’s first reaction was WTF, why was Acland Plaza left off the preferred site list?
We fired off a question to Mayor Crawford who promptly replied saying Council were “focusing on Blessington Street, which is right near Acland Plaza. Applicants are still able to put forward ideas for Acland Street.”
Interesting
Blessington @ Barkly is a thriving ‘off-Acland’ locale with a hotch-potch of popup dining areas created last summer. Already popular with locals, a lot could be achieved there with the support of local traders, creatives and $50K from Council.
But Acland Plaza needs love too
A handy $50K for something attractive and creative could be the boost that the ‘unloved’ plaza needs.
Heaven knows Acland Plaza needs more than drinking, fighting and panhandling – so why leave it off the list?

Anybody interested in this activation idea
for Acland Plaza over summer?
Working title: “St Kilda’s Got Talent”

Here’s TWiSK’s very embryonic idea for Acland Plaza
Midweek twilight sessions Monday – Thursday 7.30 pm – 8.30 pm
Its part busking, part talent quest, part competition for audience votes
Monday – Wednesday: three acts perform each night for the right to comeback on Thursday for a final heat.
The weeks are curated to provide a variety of ages, stages and styles.
It might be a musical style, dance, comedy, or novelty.
After a number of weeks there is a final week with the weekly winners competing for the overall winner.
Possibly with specialist curators and hosts, eg dance, poetry, classical, comedy and so on.
Outdoor activation in an existing alcohol free location, no entry fee for audiences or participants (although acts are selected in advance).
Ideal for accidental audiences and also attracted audiences by promoting themes, eg dance, classical , story telling , multicultural and so on – with Thursdays for weekly winners.
