Upgraded outdoor dining precinct @ Blessington Street
Works started last week (pictured) – official launch 7 July 
A outdoor dining precinct is coming to Blessington Street with an open-air community space for pedestrians and local businesses. There will be an open-air community dining space with upgraded undercover dining parklets and public seating, planter boxes, festoon lighting and a shared space for pedestrians and vehicles highlighted with artwork on the road.
The new shared zone will have a 10km/h speed limit.
Expect temporary road closures and detours in place to accommodate construction.

Council budget meeting becomes a showdown @ Council
Wednesday 29 June, 6.30 pm
A special council meeting will finalise the budget including additional spending and rate increases.
Expect a showdown between the Ratepayers of Port Phillip and Progressive Port Phillip, with both organising people to attend the meeting.
Budget highlights
Rates cap increase of 1.75 per cent 
New way of calculating rates
Extension of Economic Recovery Package of more than $1.0 million including outdoor permit relief (footpath and parklets).
Additional funding of $2.6 million for the Waste Management which includes new Food Organic Garden Organic (FOGO)
Most fees and charges for 2022/23 are proposed to increase by 2 to 2.75 per cent 
St Kilda / Elwood additional $$
Elwood Foreshore Facilities Development – design and construction estimate of $18.9 million added for Stage 1 of the redevelopment.
St Kilda Junction Underpass Safety Upgrade – $450,000 for safety and lighting upgrades
St Kilda Marina – an additional $7.3 million is estimated for further design costs and the contribution to soil contamination management
City indicators: Decline in perception of safety
Council published data on a range of ‘indicators’ including perceptions of safety, creativity and a number of business indicators. The results cover 18/19, 19/20 and 21/22 years.
Some of the results are:
Proportion of residents who agree Port Phillip is a welcoming and supportive community for everyone
Fallen dramatically from a high of 93% 19/20 to 77% 20/21
Number of people actively sleeping rough
Down from 42 19/20 to 24 in 20/21
Proportion of residents who feel a sense of safety and security in Port Phillip
Down from 82% 18/19 to 68% 20/21
Number of fatal, serious or non serious transport related crashes
Up from 70 in 18/19 to 85 20/21
Proportion of residents who agree Port Phillip has a culture of creativity
Significant decrease from 85% 18/19 to 70% 20/21
Number of people employed by businesses within the municipality
This has remained static 18/19 to 20/21
