Macnamara by a whisker?
Macnamara count concludes on Monday
How close was that vote?

Link to AEC’s latest count
Observers will be watching the detail of the Macnamara vote closely when it is finalised in the next few days.
While the ALP’s Josh Burns seems likely to hold the seat, it’s notable that the Greens candidate Steph Hodgins-May has not yet conceded.
Conservative preferences give Liberals the highest vote
Liberal Colleen Harkin eventually topped the poll thanks to a swag of preferences from conservative minor candidates like One Nation and United Australia Party. The final contest was then between the ALP and Greens to see who would be ahead at the final preference elimination – the leader would win the seat using the others preferences to out poll the Liberal.
ALP and Green preferences crucial
Scrutineers on both sides are tight-lipped about just how close the final vote between the ALP and Greens might be, with gossip ranging from margins as low as 160 to about 1,000.
We will have to wait for the AEC to release the preference distributions and elimination details to be sure of the facts.
Implications for State election
With the November State election looming and Teals looking to join the fray at the State level, a swag of local seats including the very marginal Liberal seats of Caulfield (margin <0.01%) and Brighton (margin <0.6 %) will be hotly contested.

Not near our front door says St Kilda Park Primary
Students and family protested last Tuesday to make their opinions about the location of the long-awaited public toilet just 100 metres from their school.
The School Council believes the toilet will make the school community less safe by attracting the anti-social behaviours seen elsewhere on Fitzroy Street to the doorstep of the school.
The school community is asking people to join their petition to Council.
