Skater has landed @ St Moritz

Yet to be fully revealed, Skater has landed at the St Moritz development on the Upper Esplanade.
Artists Dean Colls and Louise Skacej created this work, paying homage to the former St Moritz Ice Rink which closed in 1982.
Watch for the full reveal later in March or April.

It’s official: 35,000 people visited @ St Kilda Festival
Council had revealed that 35,000 was the official attendance at the nine-day 2022 St Kilda Festival.
Mayor Cr Marcus Pearl told TWiSK that the 2022 St Kilda Festival looked very different to previous years, aiming to produce a COVID safe event with reduced crowds while delivering some much-needed support to the live music and local hospitality industries.
“The Festival showcased more than 50 bands over six performance days and attracting more than 35,000 people to a safe and welcoming public event.”

Reimagine grants announced @ Council
Council has announced the six winners in the $300K Reimagine – Activation Design Competition – each winner receives $50K
The grants seek to deliver temporary activations across Port Phillip “creating vibrancy and increased activity through creative use of public space.”
The St Kilda based projects include:
Jonathan Leahey’s Fairy
Artist’s impression above.
Outside the Sea Baths. Installation will take place in March.
“Fairy celebrates the smallest species of penguin – eudyptula minor, or Little Penguin, an aquatic flightless bird that lives on St Kilda’s breakwater. Fairy will be anything but a “little”. Standing at 5m and fabricated from 3 mm corten steel.”
W(e)aves of Colour
Acland Street Plaza. Installation expected in March.
“W(e)aves of Colour will deliver a colourful and dynamic overhead art installation that will provide a virtual roof to Acland Plaza.”

Work starts @ St Kilda Pier
Constriction has commenced on the new St Kilda Pier.
According to Parks Vic, the existing pier will remain open during the construction of the new pier. Only when the new pier is ready for public use, will the old pier be dismantled.
It will take approximately 18 – 24 months to complete the new pier, subject to weather or technical issues.
