New Writing by She Writes Collective @ Theatre Works
Wednesday 4 October – Friday 6 October, 6 pm & 8 pm
A collection of 15 minute excerpts from new plays from the She Writes Collective writing program for female-identifying and non-binary playwrights.
Participating writers include a cross section of gender diverse, culturally diverse, emerging and early-career writers of performance across a range of age groups and abilities, at varying stages in their playwriting practices. They’ve all had a burning idea they wanted to write into a play… $15

Hedwig Crombie’s first solo exhibition Things @ Alta Forma

Things is a collection of jewellery and sculptural works based on Anglo-Celtic and Greco-Roman folklore, mythology and Paganism. Hedwig transforms characters from old prints and illustrations into wearable pieces.

Dalicados @ George Lane

After enduring the disruptions of Covid lockdowns during 2020 & 2021, Dalicados faced another challenge as remarkable songsmith James Lomas lead vocalist and guitarist, was diagnosed with a rare auto immune condition called Goodpastures’ Syndrome which destroyed his kidney function in 10 days and meant he was on dialysis for the next two and a half years waiting for a kidney transplant.
This condition put a kybosh on live performances until another Dalicados member was screened to be an ideal kidney donor; James’ wife, Fiona Lee Maynard.
Supporting their friends through this process, Dalicados waited patiently, with collective positivity, eager to return to playing live music together again. Supporting on the night is Kim Volkman (solo).

The Rainbow Bridges exhibition @ Pride

The Rainbow Bridges art project brings together the voices of young lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people and older members of the LGBTIQA+ community of the Macedon Ranges.
The project features a collection of photographs and video clips created by local community members in collaboration with Woodend-based Tracey Strong of Strong Productions and Kyneton photographer Lakshal (Lucky) Perera.
New music launch pad @ St Kilda Festival

Entries are now open for the New Music Competition where 10 emerging musicians will be selected to play the New Music Stage on day two of St Kilda Festival, performing in front of music-lovers flocking to the beachside suburb.
The winning act, as voted by the passionate Festival audience, will take home a $5,000 cash prize and book their spot on the St Kilda Festival Main Stage in 2025.
Since its inception in 2007, the New Music Competition has helped launch the careers of some of Australia’s most esteemed artists, including Baker Boy, Client Liaison and many others.

Eildon Mansion back on the market with $12m price tag

White knight property investors and art dealers Gary Singer and his partner Geoffrey Smith have decided to sell the historic Eildon Mansion on Grey Street just 18 months after they bought it in April last year.
They paid $10.45M and have spent a pile of cash ‘deinstitutionalising’ the property preparing it for residential purposes but changed plans.
Listed by Kay & Burton Stonnington, it’s described as “looking for a revival, this property presents a rare blank canvas well suited to meet a myriad of uses for 21st century living.”

unChain’s point of view on views from Triangle

unChain has commissioned an architect to generate 3D impressions of the scale of the proposed music venue at the Triangle.
Posted on their Facebook site, the images show the proposed structures from a variety of human scale points of view.
unChain says “These images are an artist’s impression, generated through 3D computer modelling to represent the proposed design within the St Kilda context to create an accurate representation of the venue as best as possible. The imagery produced are for illustrative purposes only, demonstrating the proposed design on site from street level.”
unChain says “these images are alarming, to say the least.”
TWiSK has yet to verify the accuracy of the images. Scale and the impact on view lines will always be an issue on the Triangle, especially in comparision to a ground level car park. In any case, it will be up to the proponents to present accurate information to residents on view lines at every stage of the planning process.
