The key theme of Bayou Bart is home. The narrative explores different ideas of what home is for each character and how impactful it is to them. 30-minute show. $35 / $20

Facing Up @ Theatre Works
Wednesday 3 May – Saturday 13 May, 7 pm
Facing Up is truth telling theatre about Australian policy and attitudes towards First Nations people from federation to the present. This is juxtaposed by a parallel story of Indigenous protest, a rarely acknowledged historical sequence; the creation of a nation at the expense of the disintegration of many others. Both histories contain direct quotations, summaries of government action and law.
Facing Up is delivered with a lot of emotion and meaning to the actors involved. The combination of officialdom and deeply emotional moments are presented in a rhythmical pattern utilising repetition, symbolism and straight talking. 45 minutes followed by Q&A. $45 / $35 / $20

Painters and Dockers – 40 years and 1500 shows

Note from Paulie Stewart to TWiSK
“I was hoping you might be able to mention our show at MEMO for our 40th anniversary Australian tour.
We have just finished supporting The Sunnyboys on their final ever Australian tour playing at 5 massive sold out shows in Queensland and NSW.
The last night of the tour was at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and the Prime Minister was in the house. It was surreal when he started singing along to our tune Die Yuppie Die
The Painters And Dockers originally got together to play a one off benefit show to pay Cosmic Psychos drummer Billy Walsh’s parking fines at a small pub in Port Melbourne, but since then we have performed more than 1500 shows throughout Australia, New Zealand and North America.
With 8 album releases under the belt we have also supported the likes of Billy Idol, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, The Monkees, Divine, The Cramps, Crowded House, Midnight Oil, Jonathan Richmond, The Easybeats, The Loved Ones and lots more
In 2011 the band were inducted into The Age’s Rock And Roll Music Hall Of Fame at The Prince Of Wales St Kilda and we have done many gigs in the suburb at the Esplanade, Seaview Ballroom, St Kilda Town Hall, Palace and The Venue.
I am actually St Kilda born and bred and both my Grand Dads worked at Luna Park. Grandpa Jack was actually Vice President of the St.Kilda Football Club.”

Aramco – the worlds second largest company after Apple
This signage is outside the Lakeside Stadium at Albert Park.
Apple is the world’s largest company. The world’s next largest company is Aramco, but what do they do and why are they plastered along the entrance to Lakeside Stadium?
Oil of course. Saudi Oil. And it’s a part of the shadowy mega millions that get poured into events like the Grand Prix, international golf and International Cricket.
Save Albert Park people are asking questions, including should a major public park be trashed for the benefit of foreign companies when the grand prix could be conducted without subsidies on a proper motor racing circuit?
But off course, the costs and benefits of the GP are a closely guarded secret despite receiving $m from the taxpayer every year.

Tricky details in the fine print
The paperwork details a list of project delays and some ominous ‘rebranding’:
Peanut Farm Oval Reconstruction delayed until 2025/26
Inkerman St Safe Travel Corridor delayed until 2026/27
Catani Gardens Irrigation Upgrade completion extended
Public Toilet Program – The timing of the projects within the program have been reprioritised to focus on Edwards Park and Coles Carpark Balaclava in 2023/24 (meaning Fitzroy Street toilet is constipated again?)
Library Facilities Improvement Program (previously St Kilda Library Redevelopment) – the project has been broadened to cover all library facilities and spread out over the life of the 10-year plan – WTF What does that mean for the much talked about St Kilda Library upgrade?
