Four bands, free entryPicnic Rally sends message to Council
Parents and families from three threatened childcare centres made their voices heard at a picnic rally last Wednesday.
They were joined by a bevvy of local MPs (including Josh Burns, Martin Foley, Nina Taylor and David Southwick).
Council took to social media to assure the community that a decision to sell the three centres had not yet been made.
Submissions from the community are open until 28 February.
Have your sayFootpath QR code links to collected treasures
With galleries closed, the curators of the Council’s Collection have created a series of four self-guided Art Walks that draw attention to items otherwise  ‘hidden’ in the collection.
For example, in Elwood by the banks of the canal you’ll find eight footpath decals with QR links to images from At the Dark End of the Street; Elwood at Night a series of photographs by Cathy Henenberg (pictured).
Starting from the corner of Bryon and Tennyson Streets follow the decals along the Elwood Canal.

These self-guided tours will be available until 30 April 2022.

Cash flows for music
Last year, Council announced a grant program to support music venues and artists.
TWiSK was curious to know how much was spent … so we asked!
Here’s Council’s report so far ….
Despite the rolling lockdowns, the Please Don’t Stop the Music program distributed almost $115K across 10 venues who in turn paid over 100 artists and crews.
While that scheme has closed, $54K of the undistributed funds went towards Council’s other recovery program: Locals Playing Locals.
Local venues can apply to have the fees paid for an artist who is listed on the Featured Artist Database.
So far the program has processed 71 artists payments and the program is still open.
The database currently features over 110 artistsGreg Day
