Revised budget @ Port Phillip
Released Wednesday 17 June
The revised COVID era 20/21 Council budget draft will be released on Wednesday for community feedback before the final budget is approved in August.
Expect big budget cuts and a 2% rate increase.
A big challenge for Council in COVID times, especially with council elections in October.
How will council do things differently to help the community recovery?

Budget bite #3
Sensible scheduling = $700K saving
Last week we asked Council about the detail of $700K being cut from the Building Safety and Accessibility Program.
We were surprised and pleased by the reply – sensible savings had been found – bravo.
Mayor Bernadene Voss told TWiSK that “the $700,000 reduction will be spread across [eight sub-projects] by prioritising individual pieces of work in each project based on safety. Part of the reduction will come from the Cora Graves project, based on lower than expected cost plans. While lower priority projects are being spread over two years.”
On our ‘hobby horse’ of accessible toilets, Council will still complete accessible toilet upgrades at Gasworks, Veg Out and Albert Park Library.
Now, that’s a welcome relief.

It’s definitely an interesting untold story, but we need more time to do it justice.
